Effective March 17, 2024, Corewell Health Advanced Technology Laboratory will update their CMV and EBV Quantitation testing.
Why?:
- FDA approved vs. Lab Developed Test
- Improved TAT – will be run throughout the day
- Reimbursement issues with FDA vs. LDT
- Improved Analytical Measurement Range
What do I need to do?:
- Ordering will stay the same.
- Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Quantitative PCR, Blood/Plasma | Epic Code LAB9130, Interface Code 10838, CPT Code 87497
- Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) PCR, DNA, Quantitative | Epic Code LAB3407, Interface Code 11713, CPT 87799
- Specimen requirements are now one 3 mL LAV tube per test. No more shared testing on one tube.
- Reporting: Log values will now be reported. Virus detected but below analytical measurement range will be reported as Detected, <30 for CMV; <50 for EBV
