Beginning October 1, 2022, Spectrum Health Laboratory will update the current Chlamydia and Gonococcus testing using Abbott multi-Collect kit and Abbott m2000 platform to the Abbott Alinity m multi-Collect kit and Alinity m platform. This platform update will include an orderable name change and change in collection materials.
Why this change?
This change will give increased sensitivity (i.e., lower limits) for results and the ability to test for other STI pathogens with one specimen in the near future.
What is being replaced?
Currently we will be switching the testing for Chlamydia (CT) and Gonococcus (NG) PCR testing.
Along with changes to the orderable, the collection device will also be updated.
