Laboratory Departments with Holiday Exceptions

The following Laboratory Departments will be closed on Corewell Health observed holidays:

• Laboratory Client Services (CHRL, Grand Rapids)

• Outpatient Orders Entry Team (CHRL, Grand Rapids)

• Outpatient Draw Sites (Phlebotomy – all locations)

• Referrals Department (CHRL, Grand Rapids)

The following Laboratory Departments may have altered hours on Corewell Health observed holidays:

• Flow Cytometry Department (CH ATL, Grand Rapids)

• Laboratory Courier and Supply Services (Grand Rapids and Regional)

 

Corewell Health Observed Holidays†:

◊ New Year’s Day (January 1)*

◊ Martin Luther King Jr, Day (3rd Monday in January)

◊ Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)

◊ Independence Day (July 4th)*

◊ Labor Day (First Monday in September)

◊ Thanksgiving Day (3rd Thursday in November)

◊ Christmas Day (December 25th)*

† There may be varied hours for the Friday after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (December 24th) and New Year’s Eve (December 31st). Please review site hours or contact site to ensure it is open.

* In the event that a holiday falls on a Saturday, it will be observed on the Friday before the holiday. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on the Monday after the holiday.

 

Hospital Laboratories, Inpatient Phlebotomy, Lab Central Processing and Lab Call Center are 24/7/365.

If a department is closed and you have an urgent concern, please contact the Laboratory Customer Service Call Center: 616-774-7721 and ask to speak to the Manager On Call.

REFERRALS DEPARTMENT

(“Send Outs”, Corewell Health Reference Laboratory West, Grand Rapids)

There will be no shipping (FedEx) on the observed holiday date.

Please do not draw the following tests 2 days before through the observed holiday:

  • CD107a
  • CMV T Cell Immunity Panel
  • Immuknow
  • Lymphocyte Mitogens and IABCS (Immune Assessment B Cell Subsets)
  • NK Cell Function to Cincinnati

Please do not draw the following tests 1 day before through the observed holiday:

  • TB Spots (Transplant TB Screen)
  • AlloMap

This does not include standard Mayo, Specialty or Viracor testing.

LABORATORY COURIERS 

Corewell Health Laboratories in Grand Rapids

The Couriers that support Corewell Health Reference Laboratory West, Grand Rapids (including Advanced Technology Laboratory) will send a paper communication via couriers in the weeks leading up to the holiday, soliciting if the office will be open and what their hours will be if they are. Holiday routes are built around this information but STAT couriers are also available.

Corewell Health Laboratories Big Rapids, Gerber, Greenville, Ludington, Pennock, Reed City, Zeeland

The Couriers that support Corewell Health Laboratory Hospitals in West Michigan outside of Kent County, Holland, and Muskegon, will notify clients the week before a holiday via flier. An on-call STAT courier will be available on holidays. The phone number and name of the courier will be on the flier.
